Maryna McTague

Associate

Maryna graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce in 2013 and a Juris Doctor in 2017. During law school, Maryna was involved with Student Legal Services and law show.

Prior to joining Seveny Scott in 2020, Maryna began her career at a prominent Edmonton firm practicing civil litigation. At Seveny Scott, Maryna advises employees, unions, and non-profit organizations in all aspects of employment and labour law, including wrongful and constructive dismissal, non-competition / non-solicitation agreements, disciplinary issues, disability leaves, harassment, and human rights issues. In addition to providing strategic and practical legal advice, Maryna also assists students with academic discipline and appeals, conducts independent workplace investigations and educates employers on best workplace practices.

Maryna has appeared as counsel before the Alberta Court of King's Bench, the Alberta Court of Justice, and labour Arbitrators.  She also sits on the executive of the Canadian Bar Association, Edmonton North section of the Labour & Employment Law, and is a speaker on labour and employment issues for Lancaster House.

In her free time, Maryna enjoys travelling, snowboarding, reading, live music, and exploring Alberta with her Boston Terrier named Peter.
